Twist of Fate

Angel Oak - Wikimedia
Beneath your wings of sturdy oak
hopes and dreams twist and turn
limbs, buds of spring swell
in an aura of warm sunlight
a choir of birds burst into
song

hearts nestle in twigs, grass
and leaves, waiting for birth
time to take flight

Our Song of Tomorrow

artist unknown

In my dreams I have seen the wolves cry
roaming in search of a place to reside
who will listen to their  warnings signs
reaching for the stars above the pines

lone wolf I hear your songs in the night
apparitions dance under silver moonlight
ancient drums,  walking the spirit realm
owl perched in branches of a winged elm

in the wilderness of our hearts, we bury sorrow
rhythm of life we desire to keep,  not just borrow
we shall sing with the wolves our song of tomorrow

in my dreams I've heard the twigs snap
drinking  in the sweetness of maple sap
walking with ancestors from days past
warriors  beyond the veil running fast

around a roaring fire,  seeking wisdom
eyes gleaming, a brightly colored prism
distant thunder,  a symphony of howls
awakening  as nocturnal life prowls

in the wilderness of our hearts, we bury sorrow
rhythm of life we desire to keep,  not just borrow
we shall sing with the wolves our song of tomorrow

in my dreams, I've spoken in native tongue
remembering  all the songs left unsung
red tailed hawk calls, whispering  in my ear
between the shadow of trees you appear

your gentle spirit hovers mere steps away
everlasting imprints in the moss and clay
an appetite for freedom basic survival
awakening moon announces your arrival

in the wilderness of our hearts, we bury sorrow
rhythm of life we desire to keep,  not just borrow
we shall sing with the wolves our song of tomorrow

A dream shared between friends

Author's Note:  Sherry in an email had used the
phrase " We shall sing with wolves our song of tomorrow"
my muse was inspired and we agreed to both write
a poem this week to share with Poets United. The only
requirement was to use that line somewhere in the poem.

Until Called Home

we are the clear blue waters
we are the roar of the waves
we are the clouds drifting by
we are the seagulls that fly
we are the swirling sands of time
we are the four seasons of a tree
we are the warmth of a noon sun
we are the creatures of the earth
we are the heartbeat of life
we are the  visitors in this place
we call home...

Concealed Delight

a moment between here and there
gentle breeze blowing in the air
in the stillness of shade and light
my eyes gaze upon your rare sight

finding calmness in a spring day
hidden amongst branches and ray
nature's sign, moment of delight
my eyes gaze upon your rare sight

skipping stones, pebbles of new hope
solitude expanding ones scope
allowing my heart to take flight
my eyes gaze upon your rare sight
